Toro de Oro has a curved, long, slender pod that tapers off at the end giving its name "Golden Bull" pepper. When immature the pepper is green and as it matures the pepper turns golden-yellow in color with streaks of green towards the stem. Measuring eight to ten inches in length and two to three inches in width at its shoulders the Toro de Oro has a thick flesh that is encased in a thin skin. Toro de Oro peppers offer a sweet flavor with a mild heat. Its flavor when young and green is mostly sweet with a subtle heat that gradually increases as the pepper matures.
Toro de Oro Peppers are available from mid summer to early fall.
