Petite™ Sea Grass has thin, curving, needle-like leaves that have a natural salty flavor. The inherent salinity developed because of its affinity for growing near the seashore, similarly to sea beans and other maritime plants. Its texture is distinctly succulent and crunchy with a pleasant briny minerality and tart grassy notes. It is often compared to agretti, sharing a similar flavor of spinach, without the oxalic acid.

Sea Grass naturally grows along shore lines of bodies of salt water. Petite™ Sea Grass is part of a Trademarked line of specialty greens grown by Fresh Origins in San Marcos, CA. Designed to be slightly larger than microgreens, they are harvested after 2-4 weeks of extra growth.

Sea Grass is originally from the seacoast of Japan. Petite™ Sea Grass and other Petite™ were first developed by Fresh Origins Farms in 2000. It is grown in temperature and humidity controlled greenhouses and harvested by trimming right above the soil and when they are between 2-3” in length.
