China Rose sprouts are the young roots of the China rose radish. These sprouts are made up of thin white and rose-hued stems that grow between 5 to 8 centimeters and will have a tail-like appearance. At the top of each stem sits a pair of petite heart-shaped green leaves with visible light magenta colored veins. China Rose sprouts offer a crisp, succulent texture and a spicy radish-like flavor with a mild sweetness.
China Rose sprouts are available year-round.
China Rose sprouts are the young shoots of the root vegetable known as Raphanus sativus or more specifically the China Rose radish. The sprouts of this root vegetable are popularly harvested when young and used in culinary preparations for both their taste and nutritional properties.
China Rose sprouts contain glucoraphenin and a variety of enzymes that are currently being studied for their ability to inhibit cancer cell growth.
China Rose sprouts are perfect for adding texture and crunch to a variety of different preparations. They make a great addition to veggie sandwiches, beet salad or summer rolls. Combine with soft cheeses or butter to make a spread for crackers or toast. Use to add a pop of color to salads or as a garnish when finishing dishes.
China Rose radish seeds are typically sprouted by soaking the seeds in shallow dishes of water for three to five days.
